Keyshia Cole’s DJ Explains Why She Was Late To The ‘Verzuz’ Battle (Audio)

On Thursday, the twice rescheduled ‘Verzuz’ Battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole finally took place. While people were excited to see it happen, many were surprised that the battle started almost two hours late.

Many people on social media also expressed that Keyshia Cole didn’t seem to be in the best mood.

One person asked, “How are you a month and 20 minutes late?” Another person said, “If this DJ says ‘we’re warming up’ one more time I’m gonna flip. SIR WE’RE ALREADY BOILING CHECK THE TEMPERATURE. ITS BEEN 30 MINS TF #Verzuz”

So, Keyshia’s DJ Hi-C, decided to offer a few details about what transpired.

In an interview with Houston’s ‘97.9 The Box,’ he stated, “On Keyshia’s defense, she didn’t wanna come out ‘cause her screen was blurry.” He continued, “She was there on time. I [saw] everything. She was there.” DJ Hi-C also stated, “Stuff wasn’t right. We couldn’t hear [their] side. So, [there] was a lot of technical stuff going on in there.”

Not only did the fans have an issue with the battle starting late, Swizz Beatz found it disrespectful.

He commented on the battle’s live and said, “This is very disrespectful can’t lie man…..”

The battle had 1.1 million followers and O.T. Genasis even made a guest appearance with Keyshia Cole.

Keyshia also exclusively told The Shade Room that she tested positive for COVID-19 on January 13th, which prevented her from having any rehearsals with the Verzuz crew, which could explain the sound issues that were going on during the battle.

“I was feeling really fatigued and once I lost my sense of smell, I was like ‘damn I got COVID’,” Keyshia said.

Get well soon, Keyshia.
