If there was any hope of Kid Cudi and Kanye West reconciling after having a public fallout, it looks like the chances of that happening may not come any time soon. Cudi is featured in the latest issue of Esquire Magazine, and in the issue, he talks about his new album and Netflix series “Entergalactic,” his mental health journey, and more. Also in the interview, he talks about the ending of his friendship with Kanye West, which we all have seen unfold through social media.
During the interviewing process, Cudi initially declined to speak about Kanye West and the scarred relationship. However, he ended up speaking about Ye, on what he says was on his own terms.
If you all remember, a few months back Kanye took to social media, to call out Cudi for being friends with Pete Davidson, who had been dating Kanye’s ex Kim Kardashian at the time. While denouncing his friendship with Cudi, Kanye made it clear that Cudi wouldn’t be on his “Donda 2″ album, to which Cudi responded and made it known that he didn’t want to be.
In Esquire, Cudi addressed the whole situation with Pete Davidson and said,
“Im not one of your kids. “Im not Kim. It dont matter if Im friends with Pete or not friends with Pete. None of this sh*t had anything to do with me. If you cant be a grown man and deal with the fact that you lost your woman? Thats not my f*****g problem. You need to own up to your sh*t like every man in this life has. Ive lost women, too. And Ive had to own up to it. I dont need that in my life. I dont need it.”
Cudi also shared how the whole situation messed with his mental health and questioned, “Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and youre trending because somebodys talking some shit about you?”
He continued, “And then you got this persons trolls sending you messages on Instagram and Twitter? All in your comments? That sh*t pissed me off. That he had the power to f**k with me that week. That he used his power to f**k with me. That pissed me off. You f*****g with my mental health now, bro.”
“Im at a place in my life where I have zero tolerance for the wrong energies,” he shared. “Ive watched so many people throughout the years that are close to him be burned by him doing some f****d-up sh*t. And then they turn around and forgive him. And theres no repercussions. Youre back cool with this man. He does it over and over.”
When asked what it would take to repair their relationship, Cudi said,
“With all due respect, Im not Drake, whos about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed. Thats not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you. Its gonna take a motherf*****g miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I dont see it happening. He gon have to become a monk.”
Kid Cudi also took the time to address those who credit Kanye for his career.
“I just want to clear that up for anybody that feels like Kanye made my career or made me who I am. He brought me on to do 808s. I thought that was really f*****g awesome. I wanted to be a part of a family and saw G.O.O.D. Music as that opportunity. So I finally said yeah. Kanye West did not come and pluck me out of Applebees or the Bape store.”
