Roommates, Rodney Reed is a death row inmate, whose execution is just two weeks away, and social media is advocating for his death to be stopped! As we previously reported, social media activists have started a petition to help save Rodney’s life.
The petition has caught the attention of many media outlets and influential people, including Kim Kardashian. She is not only tweeting on behalf of Rodney, but Kim is reportedly in talks with Texas government officials to stop his execution all together.
According to TMZ, Kim has been in touch with Texas officials in an attempt to convince them to hold on Rodney’s execution, and reopen his case. Sources close to the situation say Kim believes there are new witnesses and evidence to exonerate Reed.
“PLEASE @GovAbbott,” Kim tweeted. “How can you execute a man when since his trial, substantial evidence that would exonerate Rodney Reed has come forward and even implicated the other person of interest. I URGE YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING.”

Reed’s brother, Roderick, took to social media, thanking Kim for getting involved in his brother’s case.
“I want you to know you are a major God-send to my family – more than you may ever fully realize in this lifetime,” the note reads. “You are a blessing to all the families you advocate for. We’re so glad you have publicly voiced that you also believe he is innocent.”
Rodney Reed was convicted in the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites despite forensic experts saying his guilt is medically and scientifically impossible, the Innocence Project reports.
He has since spent more than 21 years on death row for the murder, which took place in Bastrop, Texas. Police claimed Reed assaulted, raped and strangled her, but he has always maintained his innocence, and recently, a former inmate claimed to know the real murderer.
A man maned Arthur Snow reportedly filed a statement with the court alleging Stites’ own fiance confessed that he killed her for stepping out on their relationship.
