LeBron James is about to be spending a lot more time in Philly! The NBA star announced he’s joining the Philadelphia 76ers, and he broke the internet in the process.
Fans have anticipated James’ decision for many weeks, but the wait is over. On Friday, July 24, James shared a post on X announcing he will play with the Philadelphia 76ers.
James noted he’d thought he was done playing in the NBA after last season.
“I thought I was done when the season ended,” James wrote, “I wasn’t ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and [decide] if I still love this game. I still truly love this game, and I have more to give.”
“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time. Thank you LA. Miami Ill forever love and Northeast Ohio will always home!” he concluded.
After James announced his decision, the post was viewed more than 8 million times as fans reacted to the news. The Shade Room shared the news as well, and Roomies quickly left remarks in the comment section.

LeBron Signed A Two-Year Contract
According to ESPN, James signed an $8 million two-year contract with the team. He earned close to $53 million last season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Furthermore, his agent, Rich Paul, said that practicing “basketball happiness” fueled his decision to leave the Lakers after eight seasons. James also played with the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers
