Fans are grieving the loss of former One Direction member Liam Payne. The artist passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 16) at the age of 31.
According to TMZ, Liam Payne died after falling from his hotel balcony. Witnesses at the CaSasur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires told TMZ that Payne fell from his third-floor room. At this time, it’s unclear whether the fall was intentional or accidental.
Witnesses report that the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. One witness mentioned that Liam had reportedly acted erratically in the hotel lobby earlier, smashing his laptop and needing assistance to return to his room.
TMZ reveals that Liam Payne traveled to Argentina earlier this month for a Niall Horan concert, where the One Direction bandmates reunited.
According to TMZ, Liam Payne joined One Direction at the age of 16, teaming up with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson. The group skyrocketed to fame after their 2010 debut on ‘The X Factor.’ In 2015, they decided to part ways and pursue solo careers.
Rolling Stone highlights that Liam Payne released his single, ‘Strip That Down,’ in 2017. The song climbed to Number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and appeared on his debut solo album, ‘LP1.’
After hearing about Liam Payne’s passing, fans and social media users shared their heartbreak and condolences in the comments on The Shade Room’s Instagram report.
