Lifetime Announces Another Follow-Up To ‘Surviving R. Kelly’

As R. Kelly is currently sitting behind bars, Lifetime is continuing to build on their “Surviving R. Kelly” series with a follow-up called “Surviving R. Kelly: The Aftermath.”

According to Variety, Rob Sharenow, the president of programming for the A+E Network announced the new special during the Television Critics Association summer press tour. He said that the new special will consist of four parts and will feature interviews from new survivors, psychologists, and experts on the Kelly case.

As many of you know, earlier this year, Lifetime debuted their six-part docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” as it covered the accusations against the singer, and featured interviews from the multiple women that have accused him over the years.

The success of “Surviving R. Kelly,” has caused the project to receive multiple award nominations. Recently it the docuseries was nominated for an Emmy for “Best Informational Series or Special.”

As we previously reported, back in April Lifetime aired “Surviving R. Kelly: The Impact,” which explored the effects of the six-part docuseries.

Earlier this month, R. Kelly was arrested in Chicago for sex trafficking charges and he is reportedly facing charges that include, aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, and aggravated criminal sex abuse.”

If you think R. Kelly is the only person that Lifetime is focusing on, you’re definitely wrong. The network also announced that they would be also airing “Surviving Jeffrey Epstein.” As many of you know he has recently been accused of sexually abusing and trafficking underage girls, as well as collecting child pornography.
