On Wednesday, Lizzo received a Billboard Music Award for Top Song Sales Artist.’ While accepting the award, she gave an encouraging speech about people not being silenced and using their power.
The first-time nominee and winner stated, When people try to suppress something, its usually because that thing holds power. Theyre afraid of your power, she said, as she stood in her dress with the word VOTE written all over it.
Theres power in who you are, theres power in your voice, so whether its through music, protest or your right to vote, use your power, use your voice and refuse to be suppressed, she said.
The 32-year-old received 11 nods for this years show.
Most recently, Lizzo landed a deal with Amazon Studios courtesy of a new first-look deal. During Amazons recent virtual Television Critics Association session, Lizzo officially announced the news. In the new partnership, she will have total control to develop her own television projects through Amazons Prime Video streaming platform.

The Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, expressed a similar sentiment when explaining why partnering with Lizzo was the right choice:

She is the latest celebrity to receive a first-look Amazon deal, along with Viola Davis and Brad Pitt. As you know, Lizzo made her film debut in last years hit movie Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keke Palmer.
