Roomies, this one is truly beyond. Weve all heard of messy breakups, dramatic pop-ups, and even some wild accusations. But, this latest story out of Missouri has social media SHOOK. Lets just say one mans late-night visit from an on-again, off-again friend ended with a cooler, some tears, and a call to the sheriffs office after this stunt Makayla Annette Haedt allegedly pulled.
Pulaski County deputies say Makayla Annette Haedt, 29, pulled up to her former lovers house in the early hours of Sept. 18 and handed him a cooleryes, a literal red-and-white cooler with green tape on itclaiming it contained his child. She allegedly said, Heres your kid,” before peeling off into the night like it was just another Tuesday. But what he found inside? Allegedly a human fetus.
“Makayla [Haedt] then gave him food which she had gotten from the Good Samaritan, where she then handed him a red and white in color cooler, with green tape holding it closed, stating ‘here’s your kid,’ then driving off in her vehicle,” the affidavit reveals. “He advised me Makayla [Haedt] ‘didn’t show any sign of remorse or anything when she said it.’ [The victim] said he believed she was making a ‘cruel fed up joke’ and instead believed it was a cooler of drinks but was hesitant to see the contents.”
According to court records, the manwho described their relationship as more of a fling than anything serioustold authorities that Makayla had previously claimed she was pregnant a few months prior. He admitted he didnt believe her, calling her a habitual liar. After receiving a message on Sept. 17 that shed suffered a miscarriage, he says she picked him up, ran some errands, and then handed him the cooler while they were eating at his house. Thinking it was just some weird joke or maybe drinks, he hesitated to open it. Two hours later, with a friend present, they finally didand were horrified.
The man, who was visibly shaken and in tears when speaking to deputies, said he couldnt believe what had happened. Reportedly, he told police, This is the type of thing you see on the internet all the time, but don’t ever think it will happen to you. The cooler was collected as evidence, and a coroner confirmed it did contain a fetus. Now, Makayla is facing a felony charge of first-degree harassment for causing severe emotional distress and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. And, just when you thought the tea couldnt get any thickerPulaski County prosecutors have now ordered Makayla to undergo a mental evaluation before her next court date.
