Manny Pacquiao Gets Dropped From Nike After Controversial Gay Remarks

Nike was not playing with Manny Pacquiao today! They announced they would be dropping him from endorsements amid the boxers gay remarks.

Pacquiao was being interviewed on a show in his home country of the Philippines early this week when he made derogatory comments about same sex couples. He said “Have you seen any animal having male-to male or female-to-female relations? If you have male-to-male or female-to-female relationships, then people are worse than animals.”

It’s no surprise that Nike wanted no parts of that and seized their eight year relationship, despite Pacquiao’s public apology.

Pacquiao took to social media wearing his Nike shirt to apologize for his comments saying “I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I hurt. God bless!”

Nike released a statement saying “We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” Nike said Wednesday in a statement. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community.”

Looks like it’s too late to say sorry!
