Marlon Wayans Honors Father, Howell Wayans, In Wake Of His Passing: ‘I Know You Sitting In VIP’

Howell Wayans—the patriarch of Hollywood’s uber-famous Wayans family—has passed on, and Marlon Wayans took a moment to pay tribute to him online.

Marlon Wayans Reflects On His Father’s Impact: ‘Baby Boy Loves You’

Over the weekend, the White Chicks actor shared the news through an Instagram post. Beneath a photo of the father-son duo, Marlon started by calling his dad a “legend.”

Marlon went on to share a conversation he had with Howell regarding what the Wayans patriarch wanted to be when he was younger, as his father simply responded, “I wanted to be a man.”

After Howell explained his rationale by noting that “a man takes care of himself and his responsibilities,” Marlon said, “From that day on I wanted to be a MAN.”

He went on to thank Howell for “being an example” before proclaiming, “I pray all young Black boys can grow up to be a Man like you.” Additionally, he wrote, “Baby boy loves you.”

“Thank you Pop for being an example of a Man to all your boys. I pray all young black boys can grow up to be a Man like you. Baby boy loves you. And if ever I need you I know exactly where to find you… in my Bible that now sits by bed. Rest well.”

Marlon also asked his father to pass along a message for his late mother, who passed away in mid-2020. Lovingly, he noted that he now has “two angels” and declared, “I feel y’all lifting me already.”

“Kiss Ma for me. Tell her her babies miss her. I got two angels. I feel y’all lifting me already.”

His heartfelt post ended with Marlon noting, “If there’s a heaven I know you sitting in VIP sippin’ the best wine Jesus can make…”

Marlon Says He’ll Always Think Of Howell Wayans When He Drinks ‘A Good Wine’

Speaking of wine, Marlon followed this lengthy upload by sharing another photo of his father sitting while posted up with a glass of red.

This second post was simply captioned, “My man 50 grand. Every time I sip a good wine I’ll think of you.”

At this time, we send our prayers and condolences to Marlon Wayans and the rest of the Wayans family.
