Mary J. Blige & Beyoncé Lead The Nominations For The 2022 Soul Train Awards

It looks like it’s almost that time of year again when some of your favorite stars are recognized and honored at the Soul Train Awards. On Thursday, the nominees for this year’s award show were revealed and Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige are leading with seven nominations each. Mary dropped her current album “Good Morning Gorgeous,” back in February, and she’s currently touring the country in support of the project. Beyoncé released her highly anticipated album “Renaissance,” which has made its way to an instant classic.

Following behind Mary and Bey is none other than Ari Lennox who earned a total of six nominations. Lizzo, who is currently on tour, earned five nominations, and Chris Brown who dropped his latest project “Breezy,” back in June, has earned five nominations as well.

Other artists that have earned nominees include Muni Long, Burna Boy, Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic, and many others.

Deon Cole was also announced as this year’s award show host. He spoke about being this year’s emcee and said,

“Hosting the ‘Soul Train Awards’ is a dream come true. I grew up watching Soul Train and ‘til this day, I’ve never met a Soul Train Line I didn’t bless with my skilled two-step. It is truly a privilege to be given this opportunity to celebrate Don Cornelius’ legacy, all of the amazing Black talent that illuminated our screens on the iconic TV show, and my favorite genres of music: Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop.”
