Jamar Champ Killed In Houston Car Crash

On the morning of Tuesday, October 28, Masika Kalysha took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a devastating message with her followers:

“God woke me up at 2:00am I couldnt sleep. I didnt know why. Jesus Christ I just received the worse news of my life. Pray for me and my kids please,” she wrote.

Hours earlier, KHOU reported that a BMW “traveling the wrong way slammed head-on into a Tesla Cybertruck” on the Katy Freeway. Furthermore, the BMW was reportedly driving west in the eastbound lanes of the Freeway when it collided with the Tesla Cybertruck and burst into flames. Subsequently, the impact “sent the Cybertruck into a nearby semi.” According to KVRR, the collision occurred just after midnight.

KHOU adds that Jamar Champ, identified as the driver of the Cybertruck, and the driver of the BMW both died at the scene. Additionally, the outlet reports that wrong-way drivers are a “recurring issue in the area.” Furthermore, investigators are also seeking to determine if impairment of the BMW driver played a role in the fatal incident.

Masika Kalysha Speaks Out

On Tuesday afternoon, Kalysha took to Instagram, urging media outlets to refrain from sharing the details of her estranged husband’s passing. Specifically, Kalysha noted that her two daughters, one of whom she shares with Champ, were at school, and she wanted to tell them of devastating news and keep them from finding out from their friends and their friends’ parents.

According to PEOPLE, Masika Kalysha and Jamar Champ were married in 2021 and welcomed a now-3-year-old daughter named Amari. To note, Kalysha shares an older daughter named Khari with rapper Fetty Wap.

In 2023, Kalysha took to a livestream to remark on her and Champ being separated. Then, in 2024, she spoke about her and Champ taking to mediation amid their apparent divorce.

Amid the devastating news, social media users entered TSR’s comment section with prayers for Masika Kalysha, her children, and Jamar Champ’s family.
