Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Help Reopen Texas Women’s Shelter Which Closed Due To Severe Storm Damage

TSR Positive Images: The brutal winter storms may have died down in Texas, but the aftermath is still plaguing many home and businesses. A women’s shelter in the area, however, will soon be able to return to business with the help of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry!

In a tweet, Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support announced that it would soon be able to reopen its doors after The Duke and Duchess pledged a donation for the establishment though their non-profit. Due to the terrible storm, the shelter experienced busted pipes, a caved in roof, and damaged furniture and was forced to close down for the first time in nearly 40 years.

“Today, the news of our damages reached Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex!,” the facility wrote on Twitter. “Through their non-profit, they are supporting us by replacing the roof at our transitional housing facility & helping us meet our immediate needs. THANK YOU ARCHWELL FOUNDATION!”

According to the Genesis’ Shelter’s website, the facility provides an emergency shelter for women escaping dangerous relationships, counseling services, and even transitional housing to assist women with returning back to a life of independence. They also have a legal team to advise and even represent women who have been victims of domestic violence.

“Not only will this gift provide for our critical needs, it shines and international spotlight on violence against women and children, letting survivors know that they are not alone.” Jaen Langbeing, CEO of the Genesis Shelter said.

Exposure to the needs of the shelter brought in additional donations, and the shelter announced it would be reopening just says after Meghan and Prince Harry’s generous contribution.
