Critically acclaimed TV anchor, Melissa Harris-Perry, has parted ways with MSNBC due to “pre-emptions.”
Perry feels as if her show is in competition for airtime and also editorial freedom has been snatched from out under her.
Her show had been pushed back due to airing of the presidential elections. In an email to her coworkers this past Friday that was obtained by the New York Times, Perry had a lot to say. “Here is the reality: Our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season,” she wrote.
In the email, which became public on Friday. She continued with “After four years of building an audience, developing a brand and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.”
In her email she also mentioned she didn’t receive word on if her show would be canceled or not or if any executives like, Andrew Lack, NBC Chairman or Phil Griffin, MSNBC president had anything to do with her show being mistreated in this fashion.
Perry has also confessed that she feels “worthless.” She continues in her email and says, “I will not be used as a tool for their purposes, I am not a token, mammy or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by Lack, Griffin or MSNBC. I love our show. I want it back.” She didn’t it appear in her scheduled weekend shows as she protested her walk off.
