Mia Jaye Reflects On Young Dolph Ahead Of First Death Anniversary And Third Man Indicted For His Murder

Young Dolphā€˜s family is approaching a difficult time in their householdā€“the first anniversary of his passing. On Thursday, his longtime partner Mia Jaye opened up about her challenges since losing Dolph, including parenting their two children.

ā€œThis almost year has been the most challenging year Iā€™ve ever had to face in my life,ā€ Mia said in a video posted to Instagram. ā€œAnd itā€™s like the closer I get to this year-markā€¦itā€™s like trying to be positive about something so messed up, it comes to a breaking point, to where itā€™s really just unfair.ā€

Dolph was shot and killed while visiting Makedaā€™s Homemade Cookies in Memphis on November 17, 2021. On a Wednesday afternoon, multiple shooters sent bullets raining through the bake shop, striking Dolph at least 22 times throughout his upper body and arms. He was 36.

Grand Jury Indicts Third Man For Dolphā€™s Murder

Hours after Miaā€™s tearful video, Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy confirmed the indictment of a third man in the killing of Dolph. According to Action 5 News, Hernandez Govan is facing first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and criminal attempt first-degree murder.

A grand jury indicted the 43-year-old on November 10, and per Action 5 News,Ā Govan is the only suspect facing a conspiracy charge. Hernandez was reportedly in jail for an unrelated June 2021 aggravated assault when Dolph died. But, a conspiracy charge could mean prosecutors have evidence that Hernandez planned Dolphā€™s murder.

Cornelius Smith, early 30s, and Justin Johnson, early 20s, also faceĀ murder and attempted murder charges.

Mia Jaye Says Dolphā€™s Death Is Unfair To His Family

In her video, Mia explained that she sees and feels the lack of Dolphā€™s fatherly presence affects their children. At the same time, she understands that theyā€™re also dealing with the pain of losing Dolph.

ā€œAnd I just get mad, I get so freaking mad, like I get so freaking mad dawg,ā€ Mia tearfully shared. ā€œWhy did we have to go through this? Why is this something that my family has to endure, why is this something that my kids have to endure? Because somebody felt that itā€™d better to just take somebodyā€™s life. And then you get down to the reasoning behind it, itā€™s never good enough.ā€

Mia also touched on her ongoing campaign, ā€˜Black Men Deserve To Grow Old,ā€™ which she launched after losing her brother to violence. She expressed that the deeper she gets into it, the more she wonders if anything will change.

ā€œItā€™s like me advocating for ā€˜Black Men Deserve To Grow Old,ā€™ me saying this, itā€™s like the more I say it, I be asking myself, is this shit gonā€™ ever change? Like is this just really the way of the world and I be feeling so f**ked up,ā€ Mia said.

In January, Mia shared that she couldnā€™t have imagined sheā€™d be using her campaign to heal within her household.

ā€œI had no idea that me putting this campaign together to help my brotherā€™s family and the other families that have been affected by such violent crime. I didnā€™t know I was also preparing for my own journey,ā€ Mia said in an interview. ā€œI have received an outpour of support from fans to different celebrities, I mean just everyone.ā€
