Missouri Is About To Lose Its Only Abortion Clinic, Could Become The First Abortion-Free State Since ‘Roe v. Wade’

Missouri’s only abortion clinic is expected to shut down later this week. The move would effectively end legal abortion in the state, @foxnews reports.

#PlannedParenthood failed to renew its license issued by the state’s health department for the last remaining abortion clinic in St. Louis. If the clinic does not become compliant by Friday, then Missouri will become the first state without a functioning abortion clinic since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973.

“This is not a drill. This is not a warning. This is a real public health crisis,” said Dr. Leana Wen, president and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

State officials were investigating “a large number of possible deficiencies,” and only two of the seven physicians at the clinic have agreed to be interviewed, according to Planned Parenthood.

Operation Rescue obtained a list of EMS calls placed by the Reproductive Health Services Planned Parenthood of St. Louis and reportedly found nine incidents of serious emergencies, most common being hemorrhaging.

“The Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in St. Louis is one of the most dangerous abortion facilities for women in the U.S. They have sent at least 70 women to the hospital suffering serious abortion complications in the past nine years or so,” Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, told LifeSiteNews.com in January. “There is a history of deception, concealment of information from the state legislature, and failed inspection reports. It is a disreputable abortion clinic that should be shut down in the interest of public safety.”

The threat of the clinic shutting down seems unrelated but coincidentally happened after Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed last a bill last week making abortion beyond eight weeks of pregnancy illegal without exceptions for rape or incest.

Pro-life activists see the potential closer of the St. Louis clinic as a victory in the fight to making America abortion-free.

Planned Parenthood said a lawsuit has been filed to try and keep the abortion clinic open.
