Mo’Nique surprised her social media followers by dropping a photo with her son, Shalon Jackson. Roomies, if you recall, they had some drama last year that sparked a heated exchange online. Even Mo’Nique’s husband, Sidney Hicks, ended up getting involved. But now it looks like Mo and Shalon have finally squashed their tensions.
On Wednesday, May 28, Mo’Nique gave her timeline a lil’ refresh, dropping new pics with her son, Shalon on Instagram. She also shared shots with her hubby Sidney Hicks and two of her other sons. In one pic, Mo’s hugging Shalon tight while he’s got his arm around her. Other pics show Shalon appearing alongside Sidney, along with two of Mo’s other sons. “GRATEFUL!!!! I LOVE US 4REAL!!!” the comedian captioned the photos.
Folks on social media were LIVING for the mother-son reunion. Some fans even noted that Mo looked at peace and super happy to be with her Shalon again. The Roommates kept dropping their thoughts on the link-up under TSR’s post. See some of their thoughts below.

Right after the pics of Shalon and Mo started going viral, Shalon hopped online and a dropped a few videos, showing love and gratitude for his family. He kept it real and admitted that everything he posted last year was betrayal.
“Why I made the videos and how I was feeling at the time was irrelevant. I made them and I shouldn’t have. My family did not deserve the backlash that they received from what I said,” Shalon explained.
He also said he should’ve just picked up the phone and spoke to his mom directly so they could’ve talked things out instead of letting their issues unfold online.“Bottom line I was wrong and I shouldn’t have said any of what I said. I should’ve just kept my mouth shut and called my mother.”
Back in February 2024, Mo’Nique and Shalon traded words on social media after she mentioned him during one of her comedy shows. Shalon wasn’t feeling what she said, so he hit TikTok, clapping back with, “Dang mama. I still LOVE U THO. Laughter will gt me through.”
Fast-forward to the end of the year. Mo pulled up on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ and said she’s letting time handle the healing.
“It’s one of those things where you have to pray to the universe and let time do the healing and that’s it! That’s it! Let time do that healing. It may heal it in time and it may not, and that’s something that we as parents have to say,” Mo’Nique told Shannon Sharpe.
She also kept it real, owned up to her part, and said she was leaving the ball in Shalon’s court. “I’ve done what I could do, and I’ve taken accountability for it; now it’s up to you,” she added.
