Folks know Chaka in the music industry as Ludacris’ longtime manager and the co-CEO of Distributing Tha Peace Records. The shooting occurred near Peachtree Road at about 11:35 p.m.

Emergency personnel transported three men to the hospital, but one did not survive. At this time, Chaka is reportedly still in the hospital and isn’t the victim who passed away. Atlanta Police Department officers said the shooting stemmed from an argument in a parking lot behind a strip center.

The situation remains an open and active investigation. Police have not arrested anyone in connection to the shooting. However, they are presently reviewing survalliance footage of the area.

As far as Chaka’s health goes, XXL reports that he “underwent surgery overnight.” Doctors reportedly expect him to recover. The second victim also underwent surgery and is recovering.

In addition to being Ludacris’ manager, Chaka also founded the label with Ludacris and Jeffrey Dixon, per their website. The label inked a deal with Def Jam in 2008. DTP Records has represented entertainers such as Chingy, Bobby Valentino, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, Big K.R.I.T, and Childish Major, per 11Alive.

Hours before, the Atlanta Police Department responded to a separate shooting accident. A repeat customer of a downtown Subway shop shot two female employees, killing one, after an argument about too much mayonnaise on his sandwich. The suspected shooter has been arrested.
