Naomi Osaka Claps Back At Fans After They Criticize Her For Referring To Serena Williams As Her Mom

On Tuesday, Naomi Osaka and Serena were among the many players that participated in the Rally for Relief charity tennis match in support of the victims of the Australian bushfires out in Melbourne.

Naomi took to social media to share a photo of her and Serena Williams sitting on the sideline at the event, and she said in the photo’s caption, “Me and my mom lol.”

However, some fans were not too fond of Naomi’s caption and decided to call her out for it. One fan said, “more like big sister.” Another fan commented and said, “agree it was a bit improper to call her mom.”

Naomi didn’t waste any time to let the fans know that Serena paved the way for her and that she would not be in the position she is today if it wasn’t for Serena setting an example. She said, “I literally would not be here without her. If that’s not the definition of mom, idk what is. Be sure, get offended by my internet slang I guess.”

As many of you already know, Naomi and Serena already have a history together on the tennis court.

Back in September 2018, Naomi defeated Serena Williams in the U.S. Open Final.

After the match, Serena said to the crowd, “She played well. This is her first Grand Slam. I know you guys were here rooting, but let’s make this the best moment we can. Let’s give everyone the credit where credit is due. Let’s not boo anymore. Congratulations Naomi.”

At the time, an emotional Naomi said, “It was always my dream to play Serena in the US Open finals. I’m really grateful I was able to play with you.”

As we previously reported, last week, Serena won her first title after having her daughter more than two years ago. She took home the win at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, and vowed to donate her winnings to the Australian relief efforts.

Roommates, what are your thoughts?
