New Poll Claims 8 In 10 Black Voters Say Trump Is Racist

TSRPolitics: Color me unsurprised. According to a new poll, more than 8 in 10 African Americans believe Trump is racist.

The Washington Post-Ipsos poll also found that a large majority of Black voters agree that Trump has contributed to making racism a bigger problem in the United States, CNN reports. The survey, which was released today, also finds that 9 in 10 Black Americans say they disapprove of Trump’s job performance.

Now in case y’all forgot, it was during his 2016 campaign that Trump pitched himself to Black voters by asking, “You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58% of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to lose?”

Needless to say, this new poll shows that apparently Black voters felt they had a lot to lose. A majority, 58%, say Trump’s actions as president are “very” bad for African Americans in the nation.

In addition to those numbers, 65 percent of the black Americans polled feel it’s a “bad time” to be a black person in America. At the same time, 77% of black Americans responded that it’s a “good time” to be a white person in America.

The black unemployment rate is at a record low at 5.5%, which Trump has frequently bragged about. But 77% of those polled say Trump deserves only some or hardly any credit for the lower American American unemployment rate.

Despite how voters feel, Trump has denied accusations of racism. Trump has faced criticism over his public and private statements such as his controversial statements from 2017 when he blamed “both sides” after violence sparked by a neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He’s also privately referred to some African nations as “s***hole countries and has spoken out against protests led overwhelmingly by Black NFL players.

Most recently, Trump was dragged in late 2019 when he told four congresswomen of color to “go back” to where they came from. Trump’s words later prompted the U.S. House of Representatives to condemn his comments.

This Washington Post-Ipsos poll was conducted online between January 2-8, 2020, among a random national sample of 1,088 non-Hispanic black adults age 18 and over.
