New Poll Reveals People Are Afraid Of Buying Corona Beer Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Whew chile, the coronavirus has practically everyone in total panic mode! The health concerns are definitely real, but perhaps some people are jumping the gun when it comes to a popular beer. It’s been discovered that an increasing number of people are now afraid of buying Corona beer because they are terrified of contracting the deadly virus with a similar name.

According to @Newsweek, a new poll conducted by market research company YouGov revealed that people are now in full paranoia about buying or drinking Corona beer due to rapidly increasing fears of contracting the coronavirus.

YouGov polled U.S. adults to find both negative or positive current comments surrounding the popular Corona beer and indicated the results using a “buzz score.” At the beginning of the year in early January, Corona beer had a high “buzz score” of 75. That has now plunged to a score of 51 as of late February, despite that fact that there is absolutely no connection between Corona beers and the coronavirus.

The YouGov poll results could have been influenced by Google search algorithms, as Google trends revealed that “from January 18th to January 26th, searches for “corona beer virus” jumped 2,300% globally.”

“Business Insider” magazine stated this as the reasoning:

“While the numbers are striking, it is important to note that Google’s search engine is programmed to automatically suggest searches based on popular terms. The boom in searches for corona beer and the virus could therefore be self-reinforcing.”

Maggie Bowman, Senior Director of Communications at Constellation Brands, the parent company for Corona beer, said this when asked if Corona sales have declined:

“Corona sales continue to be strong. There’s misinformation being shared that doesn’t match consumer behavior. By and large, our consumers understand there’s no linkage between the virus and our beer business.”

As with most things that are new and unfamiliar, misinformation and panic will ensue. So, please educate yourself properly.

Roommates, what are your thoughts this?
