New Evidence Reveals George Floyd & Derek Chauvin Worked Overlapping Security Shifts At Same Minneapolis Nightclub

Roommates, as the details surrounding the brutal murder of George Floyd at the hands on Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin continue to emerge—there has been an interesting development regarding their apparent history. New reports have confirmed that George and Derek both worked security at the same Minneapolis nightclub, but at different locations on the premises.

Minneapolis ABC affiliate @KSTPTV reports, George Floyd and Derek Chauvin worked security shifts at Minneapolis nightclub El Nuevo Rodeo with overlapping shifts. One of them worked security inside the club while the other worked outside, however it is unconfirmed whether they actually knew each other despite working at the same location for about a year. Chauvin worked there for 17 years and Floyd started back in early 2019.

Club owner Santamaria confirmed the surprising employment of the two men, explaining:

“Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open. They were working together at the same time, it’s just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside. My friend sent me (the video) and said this is your guy who used to work for you and I said, ‘It’s not him.’ And then they did the closeup and that’s when I said, ‘Oh my God, that’s him. I didn’t recognize George as one of our security guys because he looked really different lying there like that.”

El Nuevo Rodeo is a Latino-owned business just wo blocks east of where protests erupted in front of the Minneapolis Police Department Third Precinct and spilled into nearby businesses. Like their neighbors, the building’s glass doors are shattered and now covered in graffiti.
