#Roommates, we’ve written a few news articles that’s dealt with mental health issues, and it’s nice to see that New York has launched mandatory mental health classes for all students, becoming the first state to implement this rule.

According to EDM, the law took effect on July 1st, making it officially apart of the education system for all students from K-12 grade.

“We need to change attitudes around mental health,” Meredith Coles, PhD, professor of psychology at Binghamton University of the State University of New York, told NBC News. “Starting to educate children in schools makes sense.”

Via: There are nine key points that must be taught to all students. Some include identifying signs of mental health problems, resources for help and support, and the negative stigma that surrounds mental illness.
