Roommates, the culture took a huge loss with the death of many notable celebrities last year, but the streets were shaken when Harlem Kingpin Alberto “Alpo” Martinez was murdered. Now, new information is available about the person responsible for his death. According to Fox5ny, an arrest has been made. If you recall, Alpo was shot and killed in Harlem on Oct. 31, 2021. Reports state 27-year-old Shakeem Parker (not pictured) faces murder and weapons charges in connection with the case.
It’s unclear how the arrest went down because Shakeem was already in police custody in New York City’s Riker’s Island for a gun charge when he was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in Alpo’s death. Currently, Shakeem is being housed at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center on Rikers. Rikers Island has a reputation for being a hard prison. As you know Bobby Shmurda spent time there while serving a six-year sentence. Bobby has been home officially for one year after being released ten months early.
Several of the Roommates had a mix of opinions about Shakeem. One commented, “Ni**a just be doing s**t for clout. Why was a 27-year-old beefing with him?” Another commented, “They need to free that brother.” It’s unclear why some would want a suspected murdered on the streets but it could be because of Alpo’s past. The former Kingpin became famous in the 1980s but his status rose to another level when Harlem native, Cam’Ron, portrayed him in the 2002 drama from Roc-A-Fella film, “Paid in Full.”

At Alpo’s death, Cam’Ron and his “Paid in Full” co-star Mekhi Phifer shared condolences online. Shakeem is scheduled to head to court next Monday. Roommates we will keep you posted as more news becomes available.
