Nicki Minaj Addresses Negative Comments After She Credited Coi Leray For Being A Trendsetter

Girls supporting girls! When it comes to showing love to other female rappers, Nicki Minaj has never had an issue doing so. During her recent interview with Joe Budden, Nicki dropped several gems and got very personal while finding the time to show love to rapper Coi Leray. Nicki shared how she noticed Coi was setting trends for the culture.

“I didn’t know Coi Leray started the trend with the braids. I didn’t know that. I think someone told me afterward. ‘Cause I was on my little hiatus and stuff. I came back. I saw everyone wearing a particular kind of braids, and I didn’t know Coi Leray started those braids,” she explained to Joe. She added, “Are people saying to the fashion people, ‘this girl right here?'”

Coi was ecstatic to see Nicki embrace her and stepped into The Shade Room, and commented, “REAL NI**AAA.” Although the moment was meant to be lighthearted, some people called Coi out for not being the originator of the hairstyle. One commented, “Who said she’s trendsetting? Ya’ll be taking sh** too far.” Nicki wasn’t here for the negativity and hopped on her Instagram story to defend Coi.

Nicki wrote, “God, please unleash your people from the shackles of not knowing the difference between “starting a trend” and being the first human being on the planet to do something. “She continued, “Father God, it’s me again. Please unleash your people from the shackles of not knowing the difference between “jumping on a trend” and “featuring on a song. “As she ended her message, she announced a new segment coming to Queen Radio called, Black Trendsetter Award. Coi seemingly approved what Nicki said and showed her excitement about the award on Twitter. Roommates, do you agree with Nicki’s comments about Coi being a trendsetter?
