Nigerian Police Questioning Staff After Three-Year-Old Son Of Davido Drowns In Home Pool

A three-year-old child has passed away after reportedly drowning in a family-owned pool. According to BBC, a police spokesperson confirmed the toddler is David Ifeanyi Adeleke, the son of African superstar Davido and his fiance Chioma Rowland.

Ifeanyi’s passing comes less than two weeks after the toddler welcomed his third birthday on October 20. At the time, Davido dedicated a sweet caption to his son’s milestone on his Instagram page.

“I pray with all my heart that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness for as long as humanly possible,” Davido wrote. “You will grow to be greater than me. Happy Birthday, son!

Neither parent has publicly spoken on the passing as of November 1. However, multiple reports confirmed the drowning occurred on Monday (October 31.) The Daily MailandDaily Post Nigeriaclaim the parents were away when Ifeanyi drowned at their Lagos residence.

Here’s What The Nigerian Police Is Doing

Daily Mailreports that Ifeanyi was “underwater for a very long time before being rushed to a hospital.” The outlet also claimed the toddler was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin told BBCthat a domestic staff member at the residence called authorities at 10 p.m. local time. Hundeyin also confirmed that eight staff members were invited to the station for questioning.

In addition, Hundeyin revealed police are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death.

“If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found cuplable, the person will now be placed under arrest,” Hundeyin said.

Hundeyin also toldBBCthat the toddler’s body had already been deposited at the morgue. Police have also been in contact with Davido and Chioma as of last night.
