Nina Parker Becomes First Black Woman To Have Her Plus-Sized Clothing Line Displayed In Macy’s

Roomies, Nina Parker is no stranger to most of us. She’s graced our television screens as a host and interviewer and now she’ll be adding another role to her resume! The E! News host is now a designer. Nina will be launching her own plus-sized clothing line at Macy’s. With this move, Nina has made history. Her line ‘The Nina Parker Collection’ is Macy’s first time displaying a Black, female-owned, plus-sized clothing line, according to E! News.

Nina spoke to E! News about the inspiration behind the historic clothing line that was designed and made exclusively for Macy’s.

My stylist and I were trying to find stuff off of the rack and it just wasnt comparable to my counterparts, Nina said to E! News. It felt really unfair, like, Yes, I am bigger than them, but does that mean I dont matter as much because my waist is bigger?’

Since Nina’s career calls for ample camera time, she often found it challenging to find clothing that elevated her figure versus hiding it.

With plus sizes, its like they want us to hide, Nina also said.Theyre matronly, something my aunties might wear. Im like, I dont understand why big has to mean conservative.’

‘The Nina Parker Collection’ is set to drop on May 14th inside stores and online. The line features 17 stylish pieces, including tank tops, dresses and denim, that ranges in sizes from 16W to 24W. E! News also shared that the line would be affordable with tag prices starting at around $39 and going up to $129.

Most importantly, the line will ensure visibility for the plus-sized community with its placement in the store. The clothing will be displayed prominently within the store, which means buyers will get to shop for their pieces “front and center.”

Nina shared that she wants curvy women to show off their “flair” using fashion.

I want them to feel bossy, like they can walk in a room and everybody will take notice,” Nina said.
