Official Release Date & Title Revealed For ‘Black Panther’ Sequel—Film Also Set To Pay Tribute To Chadwick Boseman

#Roommates, after years of anticipation and the untimely and tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, the sequel to the record-breaking ‘Black Panther’ finally has an official release date and title. In a recent announcement from Marvel Studios, it was formally confirmed that not only is the sequel to 2018’s ‘Black Panther’ on the way—but it’s arriving sooner than many fans initially anticipated.

@ENews reports, Marvel Studios just unveiled its upcoming slate of films for the next few years—and the ‘Black Panther’ announcement was easily what stole the bulk of the attention. It has now been confirmed that the sequel to the previous blockbuster is titled ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and it is set to officially hit theaters on July 8, 2022.

Last month, one of the film’s stars, Lupita Nyong’o stated that the ‘Black Panther’ sequel had officially been reworked so that it paid a proper and touching tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who memorably played the lead character T’Challa.

Back in December, Disney released a statement that put fans’ minds at ease by confirming that Chadwick’s role would not be recast, “but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.” Additionally, Marvel President Kevin Feige also previously spoke about Chadwick’s contribution to the ‘Black Panther’ universe.

“Chadwick Boseman was an immensely talented actor and an inspirational individual who affected all of our lives professionally and personally. His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past.”

While watching the sequel without Chadwick Boseman will definitely be bittersweet, we’re excited to see how the film honors his character’s legacy.
