Officials Investigating 14-Year-Old’s Fatal Fall At Orlando Amusement Park Claim The “Harness Was Still Locked In A Down Position” After The Tragic Accident

As we previously reported, 14-year-old Tyre Samson passed away after he fell out of his seat on the 430-foot FreeFall ride at Orlando’s ICON amusement park. Video of the unfortunate incident began to circulate online, and while photos and videos suggest Samson was not properly strapped into the ride, officials may seem to think otherwise.

According to the New York Post, Florida officials state that the harness on Tyre Samson’s seat was found in a locked position when the ride stopped.

“Harness was still in a down and locked position when the ride stopped,” the Fair Rides division of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services stated.

Despite the DACS’s findings, Tyre’s family argues that he should not have been allowed to ride the coaster due to his weight. The Samson family is being represented by Ben Crump, and are adamant about finding out whether or not he was properly secured into the ride.

A manual for the FreeFall ride, obtained by The Post, contains weight guidelines that employees are to abide by in order to ensure the safety of riders. It specially states that the maximum allowable weight is 287 pounds, and Samson’s family notes he was over 300 pounds at the time of his death.

“Be careful when seeing if large guests fit into the seats,” the manual reportedly states. “Check that they fit within the contours of the seat and the bracket fits properly. If this is not so — Do not let this person ride.”

Tyre’s father Yarell Samson had his to say about the tragedy: “And the pain behind it could never be taken away–and sorry’s not gonna take it back and no monies, no nothing in the world could replace the young man. And it’s just said, a young man’s bright future was taken away from him over a ride, an amusement park. It felt like somebody hit me so hard in my stomach. I just lost wind.”

Please keep this family in your prayers during this difficult time, Roommates.
