Family Of ‘U Guessed It’ Rapper OG Maco Speaks Out After His Death At Age 32

OG Maco had hip hop listeners in a chokehold when he released ‘U Guessed It’ in 2014. Ten years later, the rapper passed away in a Los Angeles hospital. According to TMZ, he was surrounded by family during the transition on December 27. He was 32 years old.

Here’s What To Know About OG Maco’s Death

OG Maco was first admitted to the hospital earlier this month. At the time, he was suffering from a gunshot wound to his head that landed him in critical condition. On December 16, his family said he was receiving “the best possible care.”

His cause of the death has not been revealed. However, TMZ reports that Maco’s neighbors called 911 after hearing a gunshot sound in the near. A gun was reportedly recovered near the rapper’s body after authorities discovered him.No additional details about his death have been made public yet.

Rapper’s Family Speaks Out

As news of OG Maco’s death began circulating, his family confirmed his passing in a social media release. The family opened their press statement by saying the death of Maco, real name Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., was “heartbreaking.”

“His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love. Through his music, passion, and unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact,” the statement said. “While he grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived — one that will continue to inspire and uplift others. Maco’s influence, both as an artist and as a person, will remain forever etched in our hearts.”

His family asked that anyone interested in reaching out do so through the rapper’s official Instagram account. Additionally, they thanked fans, friends and supporters for standing by him.“Today, we celebrate a life that was extraordinary in every way,”the statement concluded.
