Old Navy To Pay Employees A Full Shift To Work Election Polls In November

#Roommates, the 2020 presidential election is only two months away and popular retailer Old Navy is giving its employees a profitable incentive to do their part. While many companies give workers Election Day off—Old Navy is going one step further by paying its employees to work at the polls.

@CNN reports, Old Navy is committed to doing its part in the election process of 2020, as the company just announced that it will pay store employees for a full eight hour shift if they serve as poll workers for the 2020 election. Old Navy stated that employees “will also be eligible for compensation from their local jurisdiction.”

Old Navy, which has 50,000 field employees across more than 1,000 stores, is partnering with the Civic Alliance and Power the Polls to recruit 250,000 new poll workers to “ensure polling sites stay open and operate efficiently across the country.” The CEO of Old Navy, Nancy Green explained the company wanted to ensure that every voice is heard at the polls and this is a way to contribute.

“Every voice in this country matters and deserves to be heard at the polls, and if we at Old Navy can be even a small part of making that process more accessible to the communities we call home, we are on board,” she said.

As you’ll recall, all across the country there have been disturbing reports of massive shortages of poll workers and polling locations following the election primaries a few months ago. In an effort to ensure that those issues don’t occur in November, many states are currently taking initiatives to garner extra help from volunteers and additional polling resources.
