We reported about the escaped convicts who staged an extensive escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in NY for almost three weeks. It turns out one of them was discovered and shot. (Richard Matt is on the right in the picture above)
Convict Richard W. Matt, was shot and killed today by a federal agent. The authorities learned about his whereabouts when he tried to carjack a campers vehicle near Malone, NY.
Luckily for the driver he was able to speed away before his vehicle was taken and called 911.
Matt was spotted near the cabin he and his partner were staying. Police discovered DNA evidence from an open bottle of gin in the hunting cabins, indicating they were in the area.
As for the other escaped convict, David Sweat, he is currently still on the loose. Police have the three mile radius from the cabin in high surveillance with hundreds of law enforcement officials.
