Orlando Brown To Undergo Pre-Trial Mental Evaluation In Ohio Criminal Case, Lawyers Hope To Plead Insanity

While we haven’t heard much from Orlando Brown as of late, it looks like him and his lawyers are working overtime to ensure he doesn’t have to stand trial, according to TMZ TV.

If y’all recall, Brown was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor back in December, with the disgraced former Disney star previously pleading not guilty at the time.

He was allegedly involved in an altercation, and authorities claim he “came at them in a threatening manner while wielding a knife blade and hammer,” The Shade Room reported last month.

Brown is reportedly set to undergo a mental evaluation, opening the door to a possible plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Meanwhile, the “That’s So Raven” star remains on house arrest following his release from custody Friday after posting a $25,000 bond.

Orlando Brown Reportedly Assaulted Relative With “A Hammer And Knife,” Authorities Claim

In December, a person who identified themselves as Brown’s relative told authorities that Brown had been going “crazy” inside the relative’s home and “came at him with a hammer and knife in a threatening way,” according to an arrest report from police in Lima, Ohio, according to PEOPLE.

The unnamed relative added he “believed Orlando was going to assault him.”

Brown had been staying at the relative’s home for about two weeks “because [Brown] is homeless and he did not want him to go to a homeless shelter.”

TMZ reports that Orlando was living under the same roof as the alleged victim, who got him a movie role … which Brown’s since lost as a result of the alleged incident.

The 35-year-old former child actor is probably best known for playing Eddie Thomas on “That’s So Raven,” a Disney Channel show that aired from 2003 until 2007.

The series featured its namesake Raven-Symoné as a girl with psychic powers who could see the future just moments before events occurred.

Over the last few years, Brown has made more headlines over his struggles with mental health.

Former Child Star Has Long History Of Arrests & Mental Health, Addiction Issues

Back in 2018, he got a large tattoo of his co-star Raven Symoné’s face on his neck and chest, and was arrested several times, once in Las Vegas for burglary, another for missing court, and again for drugs, also three in Sin City, The Shade Room previously reported.

That same year, he appeared on the “Dr. Phil Show” where he discussed his ongoing issues with mental health, addiction and homelessness, punctuated by numerous arrests.

Solomon Barron, Brown’s manager and friend, reached out to Dr. Phil for help after kicking the former child star out of his home, saying “he’s burned so many bridges.”

During the episode, Brown spoke about his drug and alcohol addiction, with crystal meth being his drug of choice, calling the substance demonic.
