Packages Addressed To Robert De Niro And Joe Biden Match The Other Suspicious Packages

Yesterday we reported about suspicious packages that were addressed to the Obama’s and the Clinton’s. Shortly after, a similar package was sent to the Time Warner Center in New York City and the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Now two more packages have been sent and addressed to actor Robert De Niro and former Vice President Joe Biden.

According to CNBC, the suspicious packages have been described similar to the ones reported yesterday. The package addressed to Robert De Niro was sent to his Tribeca Grill restaurant in New York.

Law enforcement sources say a package similar to the others was found at a postal facility in New Castle, Delaware and it was addressed for Vice President Joe Biden. Yesterday, authorities believed there was a package somewhere in the system addressed to him.

According to the report, the police received a call around 4am from a building worker, where De Niro’s restaurant is located. The worker remembered seeing the package a day or two earlier and realized it was similar to the packages sent to Democratic politicians. The restaurant was closed at the time, so there was no need for an evacuation, but the New York City police bomb squad did remove the package from the building.

There have been similar devices found in these packages. Both De Niro and Biden’s packages had the same stamps and return address (that of ex-Democratic National Committee chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz).

NBC New York reports, “The explosive devices were made from PVC pipe and contained a timer (likely a digital alarm clock) to set off the detonator. The powder contained in the bombs comes from pyrotechnics. X-rays show there was likely shrapnel inside the PVC pipe.”

This now brings the total of suspicious packages to nine. Maxine Waters was among the list of people to also receive a package.
