Paris Jackson has revealed her addiction to alcohol and heroin while celebrating five years of sobriety.
Earlier this week, Jackson took to her Instagram feed to share a video with her more than 5.4 million followers. In the caption of her post, Jackson wrote:
“hi, im pk and im an alcoholic and a heroin addict. today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. to say that im thankful would be a poor euphemism…”
As she continued, Jackson explained that the feeling of gratitude would “hardly [scratche] the surface.”
“… its because im sober that i get to smile today. i get to make music. i get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. i get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. i get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and its warm,” she continued. ” ive found that life keeps happening regardless of whether im sober or not, but today i get to show up for it…”
Before concluding her message, Jackson told fans she was sharing “a little snapshot of what has been possible” because of her sobriety.
“and my god i cant believe i almost missed it all,” she added.
Check out her message and the footage she shared below.
According to the New York Post, Jackson has been candid about “her addictions in the past.” However, her most recent message was the first time she explicitly revealed her addiction to heroin.
Social media users reacted to Paris Jackson’s revelation and five-year sobriety accomplishment in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @jpumaa wrote, “Congrats Im 6 years 4 months sober !”
Instagram user @ashley.brionne wrote, “h is a strong drug to be hooked to. happy for her”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Jackson also made headlines in August 2023. At the time, the world was celebrating the birthday of her late father, Michael Jackson. Amid their remembrance of the star, some social media users attacked Paris for not taking to social media at the time to post content about her dad.
Ultimately, Paris Jackson called out the critics for “abus[ing], manipulat[ing], and harass[ing]” her.
