Father Of Kansas City Chiefs’ Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Arrested In Texas

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the dad of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, has reportedly been arrested.

According to USA Today, on February 3, Mahomes Sr. was taken into custody by the Tyler Police Department in Texas.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. Reportedly Arrested For DWI

His arrest came as a result of suspicion of driving while intoxicated, reportedly marking this his third offense of this nature. Per PEOPLE, the 53-year-old’s bond was set at $10,000.

The Smith County Judicial Center’s online database confirmed the charges against Mahomes Sr.

Considering this is his third offense, it’s only further established the seriousness of the situation.

Court records reveal a history of multiple arrests for driving while intoxicated, indicating a pattern of behavior that is a cause for concern. Most notably, Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to a previous DWI charge in 2018.

He was subsequently sentenced to 40 days in jail. This sentence was served intermittently on weekends between February 2019 and February 2020. His son has not made any public statements regarding the incident.

The Kansas City Chiefs Are Heading To The Super Bowl

And that shouldn’t be a surprise considering the Kansas City Chiefs are currently preparing for the Super Bowl next week.

His team will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11, so it’s fair to assume that the NFL star would probably want to avoid any distractions leading up to his big day. The pressure of performing at the highest level is presumably immense enough as it is. And now has to contend with the added emotional burden of his father’s legal troubles.

Of course, this is not Mahomes’ first time heading to the Super Bowl. He previously won the annual league championship game with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. Following the intense game, he was also awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after making 26 completions on 42 attempts for a whopping 286 yards.

One can only hope that the family issues won’t affect his performance on the day when all eyes will be on him (and Travis Kelce, of course).
