#Roommates, the efforts to stop the execution of Texas inmate Rodney Reed are still going strong and building more momentum than ever. The latest numbers, revealed in the petition to free him from prison, have officially surpassed over 2 million signatures.

As celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Pusha T and Oprah Winfrey have spoke out publicly urging for Rodney Reed’s execution to be stopped, millions of others are also helping where they can—in the form of a petition that is getting staggering numbers. As reported by @Newsweek, a petition urging Texas Governor Greg Abbott to halt Reed’s death has gathered more than 2 million signatures.

Currently, the petition to convince Abbott and other Texas elected officials to stay the execution has 2,001,862 signatures. The goal of the petition is to have three million signatures by November 19th. Along with providing a digital signature, supporters are also urged to call a number of influential people, including Abbott, legislators and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Earlier this week, 26 bipartisan Texas lawmakers sent a formal letter to Abbott, asking him to spare Reed’s life and allow new developments in his case to be explored. Those new developments include a man who claims that he witnessed another man confess to the murder Reed is accused of and also forensic evidence.

As you’ll recall, Reed, 51, was convicted of raping and murdering 18-year-old Stacey Stites in 1996 and is scheduled to be executed on November 20th. He has continued to maintain his innocence, claiming that his sperm was found inside Stites’ body because they were having an affair and slept together the day before. You can sign the petition to help him here.
