Roommates, a second suspect has been arrested in the killing of Joshua Brown, the man who testified against former Dallas Police officer, Amber Guyger for the murder of Botham Jean, CNN reports.
As we previously reported, Joshua was shot near his apartment complex just days after he took the stand in the Amber Guyger trial. Despite what you all may be thinking, Dallas authorities claim Joshua was killed during a drug deal transaction.
Police claim Joshua set out to sell marijuana to Thaddeous Green, Jacquerious Mitchell and Michael Diaz Mitchell. The purchase escalated into a physical altercation, causing Green to shoot Joshua twice.
After reportedly receiving tips about the incident, Dallas police say they obtained a search warrant and recovered 12 pounds of marijuana, 143 grams of THC cartridges and $4,000 in cash from Joshua’s apartment.
Regardless, Dallas PD stand by the fact that they had nothing to do with Joshua Brown being shot, but his death was a result of a “criminal” act at a coincidental time. A representative for Joshua’s family, attorney S. Lee Merritt, has called for Dallas to recuse themselves from the investigation.
“this family and their representatives have consciously avoided speculating about law enforcement involvement in this tragedy. However, due to the proximity of this murder with the trial of Amber Guyger–rumors abound,” Merritt said in a statement.
Merriitt continues saying: “It is imprint for everyone involved that this case not only be solved but the conclusions arrived to by investigators be seen as authentic and reliable.”
Dallas PD responded with the following statement: “As you know, theres been speculation and rumors that have been shared by community leaders claiming that Mr. Brown’s death was related to the Amber Guyger trial, and somehow the Dallas Police Department was responsible. I assure you that is simply not true.”
