It’s been one year since the untimely death of Pop Smoke, and his family and fans are still having a hard time processing it. Yesterday news was released that the preliminary hearing for Corey Walker, one of the men accused of killing Pop Smoke, was held. Detective Christian Carrasco was the first person to take the stand and detailed the events held the night Pop was fatally shot and killed.
Today, Pops’ brother Obasi shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying that he was sorry and wished that he would’ve tried harder to keep him away from gangs. “Somethings not right about this case! The info not matching, and people are moving crazy. Bashar on God, we are getting to the bottom of it. I’m sorry the real wasn’t with you,” he wrote. “I’m sorry you said ni***s would shoot back, and they didn’t. I’m sorry you thought ni***s would fight for you, and they’re not even doing that and death.”
Obasi continued writing that it seemed like everyone gets mad when he speaks up because it threatens their position in the gang s**t. If you’re familiar with Pop, you know that he always repped the Woo and was an alleged member of the Crips. He captioned the post, “On God, we gon’ figure this out @realpopsmoke I tried to warn you bout this gang s**t…I should’ve tried harder. He also shared another message saying that the only person who could tell the truth about Pop’s death is with the ancestors now and that he doesn’t believe anybody who tells the story.
