According to TMZ, the outlet confirmed the passing of Lil Poppa with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday, February 18. The 25-year-old, whose real name was Janarious Mykel Wheeler, was reportedly pronounced deceased at 11:23 a.m.
Per the outlet, the cause of the rapper’s passing has not been publicly released.
Per the outlet, Lil Poppa was signed to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group (CMG) and recently released an album in August 2025. Last week, he released a music video for his latest single, “Out Of Town Bae.’

The passing of Florida rapper Lil Poppa arrives on the heels of the passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson. As The Shade Room previously reported, on Tuesday, February 17, Jackson’s family revealed that he passed surrounded by his family in Chicago. Per USA Today, Jackson had been diagnosed with “progressive supranuclear palsy.” It is reportedly a “rare neurological disorder that impacts walking, balance, eye movement, and swallowing.”
At this time, however, his cause of death remains to be publicly shared.
