The shooting took place at around 2pm, and students wee evacuated to Northridge Recreation Center in Highlands Ranch, where anxious families looked for their children.
“I heard a gunshot,” said 8-year-old Makai Dixon. “I’d never head that before.”
Many parents questioned the protocol of school, and the safety measures they are taking to ensure students’ safety. Sheriff Spurlock said the school had no police officer assigned to it and used private security instead.
