President Donald Trump Files Lawsuit In Michigan To Stop Ballots From Being Counted

With votes still being counted from states across the U.S., President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has officially filed suit in Michigan’s Court of Claims to put a hold on counting ballots in the state. He has requested this “until meaningful access has been granted” to observe the ballot counting process.

In a statement released by the campaign, they state,” We also demand to review those ballots which are opened and counted while we did not have meaningful access.” Trump’s campaign staff claims they have been denied access to “numerous counting locations” to observe the process “as guaranteed by Michigan law.”

According to the Detroit News, Bill Stepien, Trump’s 2020 campaign manager said, ”As votes in Michigan continue to be counted, the presidential race in the state remains extremely tight as we always knew it would be.”

The campaign’s official statement did not provide the location’s information on where they were denied access and the copy of the lawsuit is unavailable. Currently, Vice President Joe Biden is in the lead with 49.7% of the votes than Trump with 48.8%. 95% of precincts are reporting the state as many absentee results are trickling in.
