#Roommates, just hours after he was officially sworn in as the new 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden didn’t waste anytime getting to work. After getting settled in the White House, President Biden promptly signed almost 20 new executive orders—which permanently undo several of Trump’s previous policies.
@CNN reports President Joe Biden recently finalized 17 executive orders, moving faster and more aggressively to dismantle his predecessor’s policies than any other modern president, as many of Trump’s widely criticized policies are now a thing of the past. Biden signed a collection of executive orders, memorandums and directives including many of Trump policies that were the most divisive and controversial.
The executive orders President Biden signed include halting the funding for the construction of the Trump border wall, reversing his racist travel ban targeting largely Muslim countries and embracing progressive policies on the environment and diversity that Trump spent his entire presidential term blocking.
Additionally, Biden also reversed several of Trump’s attempts to withdraw from international agreements, beginning the process of rejoining the Paris climate accord and halting the United States’ departure from the World Health Organization—where Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, will lead the U.S. delegation.
One of the first actions that President Biden imposed is a mask mandate on federal property required of all federal employees, which is a stark contrast to how Trump handled the coronavirus by continuously downplaying it. Biden also installed a coronavirus response coordinator to oversee the White House’s efforts to distribute vaccines and medical supplies.
“There’s no time to start like today. I’m going to start by keeping the promises I made to the American people,” he told reporters while inside the Oval Office.
