On Sunday, a protest erupted after a police-involved fatal shooting took place in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle, Daunte Wright, 20, was fatally shot by police as he attempted to leave a traffic stop, a press release from the Brooklyn Center police stated.

Officers attempted to make the traffic stop after they noticed Wright had an outstanding warrant, according to the press release.
The press release also says that while officers were attempting to take Wright into custody, he re-entered the car and one of the officers fired their weapon, shooting Daunte.
After attempting “life-saving measures,” Daunte died at the scene.
It’s also reported that the car traveled “several blocks” before colliding with another vehicle, according to KARE11.
A female passenger sustained injuries due to the crash, and she was transported to North Memorial Hospital.
KARE 11 also reports that the bodycams of the officers, in addition to the dashcams were on.
This incident is currently being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
