Quincy Jones Documentary To Premiere On Netflix Next Month

A documentary about the legendary Quincy Jones is coming to Netflix next month.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix announced on Wednesday that “Quincy,” directed by Jones’ daughter Rashida Jones and Alan Hicks will premiere on September 21st.

The film, which will also have a limited theatrical release, will take a look at Jones’ career as a “ trumpeter, producer, conductor, composer and arranger, combining vérité moments with private archival footage.”

Rashida Jones said in a statement, “It’s rare that somebody who has lived as much life as my dad is still interested in growing and knowing the next generation. He is such a man of action and accomplishments, but we were so lucky to spend real time with him, to let him reflect on life and the larger picture. I feel honored to be able to share that with audiences all over the world.”

Quincy Jones’ legendary work spans over the last six decades. Among all his work, he’s known for producing Michael Jackson’s albums, “Off The Wall,” “Thriller,” and “Bad.” He also served as the producer and conductor on the 1985 song “We Are The World.”

He has received 79 Grammy nominations and 27 Grammys. Back in 2013, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
