Whew! Folks are going to learn to stop playing with these new-age celebrities! Rapper Skilla Baby recently went IN on a social media user who commented on his looks.
“IDK if I’m just too old to get it, but Skilla Baby is not cute,” X (formerly Twitter) user @shayjefe wrote, adding a sad-face emoticon. Exactly 30 minutes later, the ‘Bae’ rapper unloaded on Ms. Shay, chile!
“lol good morning I checked out your page and I noticed you tryna take care of yo child by promoting your fake check stub business on twitterat 40 my love you got a lot of better things to do than worry about if Im cute or not but thats ok because I love you ,” he wrote back.
The Shade Room can’t confirm the claims in Skilla Baby’s clapback. However, Ms. Shay didn’t hesitate to clarify her age. She responded to his X post, “I’m not 40 [three laughing emojis], but thanks for the love [heart hands].”
For those who don’t know, Skilla Baby hails from Detroit — a fact Jack Harlow made popular on his November 2023 song ‘Lovin On Me.’ “I get love in Detroit like Skilla Baby,” Harlow rapped. He spoke to Billboard about the shoutout last month, following the release of his project ‘The Coldest’ the month before.
“I dont know what inspired that [shout-out], but I thanked [Jack] so many times. The momentum I got from that, you would have to be there in real-time to feel it. Certain people see me and familiarize my name with that song.”
Yung Miami also threw him an alley-oop when she featured him on her single ‘CFWM (Mama You Pretty With No Makeup) in April.
Co-signs aside, the rapper has been gaining popularity on his own. He’s been signed to a label since 2022, and his song ‘Bae,’ released in November, has become a hit in the last seven months, particularly on social media platforms.
Earlier this week, he added another W to his growing rap resume. XXL revealed its 2024 Freshman Class list, which includes 11 rappers, and Skilla Baby is one of them. On the magazine’s cover, labeled “Not Like Us” this year, Skilla posed in a white tee with a long-sleeved army green jacket. He accessorized with multiple diamond chains and dark sunglasses.
Others on the list include Hunxho, Bossman Dlow, and Maiya the Don, to name a few.
