Roommates, Remy Ma has social media doing what it does bestbreaking down lyrics and connecting dots. The Bronx rapper recently stepped outside to represent her city in a major way, but it wasn’t just the visuals that caught fans’ attention. As clips from the performance made their rounds online, listeners quickly began dissecting a few pointed bars that many believe were aimed at Papoose and Claressa Shields.
For the Bronx Remix of ‘Ever Since U Left Me’ on 4 Shooters Only, Remy brought NYC energy front and center. Rocking Knicks gear from head to toe, she delivered her freestyle into a hanging microphone while standing alongside French Montana and Max B on a New York City street. The performance drew a crowd of fans and even featured a mascot joining in on the moment. Remy also had her style on full display, stepping out in multiple iced-out chains, a white crop top that showed off her toned midsection beneath her Knicks jacket, and a bold orange-and-black hairstyle complete with a sleek side part and swooped finish.
While the visuals grabbed attention, it was a few lyrics that really got the internet talking. During the freestyle, Remy appeared to fire off subtle shots at her ex-husband Papoose and his reported new flame, Claressa Shields. At one point, she rapped, “Always the one never the two, told him find something stupid to play with, he picked you,” before later adding, “I went Fox on a whack b****.” The bars immediately sparked reactions online, with fans debating whether the lyrics were direct references to the ongoing tension surrounding her highly publicized split from Papoose and his new relationship.
