Richard Sherman Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor Following 2021 Incident (Update)

NFL players have been in the news all day today. Former Seattle Seahawks player Richard Sherman has found himself back in the spotlight after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges and a traffic violation. According to reports from the News Tribune. If you recall, last July, the Super Bowl champion was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident after he attempted to break down his in-law’s front door to get to his wife. The NFL baller is walking away with what some might call a slap on the wrist.

Reports show Richard must pay $825 to the court clerk and $500 for the violation of speeding in a construction zone infraction. He will also pay restitution in an amount to be determined to his father-in-law and to the Washington Department of Transportation for speeding through the construction zone. Lastly, Richard will be under monitored supervision for 24 months at fees of $480.

In addition, the current cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has to attend Alcohol and Drug Information School and file proof to the court within 60 days. He must also participate in a DUI Victim’s Panel and file proof within 60 days following enrollment. King County Superior Court Judge Kevin Peck agreed to the terms of the plea agreement between Richard’s attorney and prosecutors.

Judge Peck ordered Richard to serve 90 days in jail with 88 days suspended plus credit for the two days in jail he served in July 2021. Therefore, in this case, Richard will not face additional jail time. During the sentencing, he took the floor and spoke, stating, “I’m grateful. I’m grateful for — you know, you go through things in life, and throughout those things, you make mistakes.”

Roomies, what do you think of Richard’s sentencing?
