What started as a normal middle school dance night for one Illinois family has reportedly spiraled into a shocking case that has left an entire community stunned. Authorities say a 43-year-old woman named Robyn Polston is now facing serious charges after allegedly conceiving a child with a 14-year-old boy who once attended her daughters school event.
According to court documents and a probable cause affidavit obtained by People, Robyn Polston has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault. And, they involve a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, as well as two counts of possession of child pornography. Each charge reportedly carries a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years. Officials say the investigation began shortly after Polston gave birth to a baby in January 2025. That’s when the Tazewell County States Attorneys Office received a concerning report from the Washington Police Department.
Investigators obtained the childs birth certificate just a week later and thats when things took a turn. Authorities reportedly noticed that the baby shared the same middle and last name as a teenage boy who had once attended a middle school dance with Polstons daughter back in May 2023, an event Polston had chaperoned herself. When questioned, Polston allegedly told officers that the childs father was a man in his twenties named Brian. Additionally, Polston claimed she hadnt seen the father since giving birth. But, police say the timeline and other evidence didnt add up.
The affidavit outlines that the teen had moved away after the 2023 school dance but returned to Illinois in April 2024 about 40 weeks before the childs birth. He reportedly visited again in June before moving back permanently that August to live with the family of a friend. That timeline raised investigators suspicions, prompting a deeper search that allegedly led to disturbing digital evidence linking Polston to the boy.
Authorities say a DNA test later confirmed the teenage boy was the babys biological father. Following the results, Robyn Polston was arrested on November 3 and is currently being held without bail. As of now, she has not yet entered a plea. Furthermore, she is expected to be formally arraigned on December 4, according to court records. Her attorney has not responded to requests for comment.
