Rod Wave is facing a major lawsuit after Grizzly Touring claimed he kept a $27 million advance but failed to finish his 35-date arena tour. On Sept. 29, Grizzly Touring filed the federal lawsuit against Rod, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green. The company partnered with him for his 2024 ‘Last Lap’ North American tour, but says he only performed 26 of the 35 scheduled shows.
For context, Rod Wave’s completed performances reportedly grossed $30 million, which still fell short of Rods $57 million advance, leaving $27 million unpaid. According to Billboard, Grizzly claims several shows had to be canceled because Rod made last-minute changes to his production, making back-to-back dates impossible. However, Rod blames the promoter, saying they messed up the routing.
In a separate interview, he also revealed plans to launch his own tour through his own company, which Grizzly says breaks their contract. The ‘Last Lap’ tour kicked off Oct. 19 in Phoenix and was supposed to wrap Dec. 18 in Fort Lauderdale. Its openers included Moneybagg Yo, Toosii, Lil Poppa, Dess Dior, and Eelmatic.
Grizzly is asking the court to force Rod to return the remaining $27 million and cover additional damages. The company also wants to block him from running his own self-promoted tour. Grizzly’s lawyersallege Rod spent the advance on lavish items, including private jets and luxury homes, instead of paying back what he owed.
“Artist refuses to pay Grizzly a single penny of the more than $27 million he owes, and was required to pay in the first instance, and he has instead chosen to spend his advance on private jets and lavish second homes,
While Rod hasnt publicly commented since the lawsuit dropped, his attorney, David Rose, insists he didnt breach his contract. Attorney Rose wrote in a letter that the canceled shows were Grizzlys fault. Rose pointed to errors with routing, booking, and even shipping Rods touring equipment. Back in January 2025, Rod Wave posted several posts to his IG story blaming production for his show’s postponement and letting his fans know it was completely out of my control.
